Uttar Pradesh is a fascinating state of India, with great history and rich traditions. It is situated in the northern region of India and nature has blessed it with majestic features like mighty mountains, gushing rivers, placid lakes, lush green forests, verdant valleys and exotic flora and fauna. There are many places of religious and historical importance in the state which attract a large number of tourists from all over the world. Uttar Pradesh is an interesting tourist destination for all types of tourists- adventure seekers, leisure traveler and people on spiritual quests. Uttar Pradesh has 3 distinctive geographical regions, the Himalayan region, Gangetic Plains and Vindhya Range. There are many gigantic rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Gomati, Ghaghara and Ramganga flowing throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh. Nearly all the main towns and trade centres of the state are located near and around the rivers.
Uttar Pradesh has an excellent tourism infrastructure. The state has good transport facilities with an air port at Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. There are 4 more airports at Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi and Allahabad. There is a good rail network in the state. Uttar Pradesh has numerous tourist attractions like various ancient temples, historical monuments, wildlife parks and sanctuaries, mountain peaks etc.
Allahabad is one of the most important parts of India . It has contributed to the development of Uttar Pradesh both spiritually and politically. In Allahabad the confluence of three sacred rivers i.e. Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati occurs . Incidentally, Both Ganga and Yamuna are active rivers which cover large areas of Northern India On the other hand according to there Hindu belief there is an imaginary river named Saraswati which also joins both Ganga and Yamuna at Allahabad. Coming to the polity of the country , out of the 14 Prime Ministers which India has till date , seven Prime Ministers come from Allahabad.
Places like Ayodhya, Agra, Sarnath, Varanasi, Mathura, Lucknow and Prayag have many famous architectural buildings and temples. The hill stations of Ranikhet, Nainital, Almora and Mussorie have rare and charming natural beauty. The Dudhwa and Corbett National Parks are world famous tiger reserves and a haven for the naturalists and nature lovers. The Yamnotri, Pindari, Gangotri Glaciers are tempting treats for adventure lovers. The famous pilgrim centres in the Himalayan ranges are Kedarnath and Badrinath.
