Tamil Nadu is located at the southernmost part of India, bordered by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in the north and Kerala on the west. Historical monuments, artistically built temples, adventurous wildlife sanctuaries, beautiful beaches and soothing environment are the pillars of Tamil Nadu. This state alone has more than 30,000 temples that make it a ‘Land of Temple’. The state is a perfect pilgrimage destination for the worshipers of Shiva, Vishnu, Parvati, Lakshmi and Ganesha. Meenakshi temple is one of the largest temple complexes in India. The shrine resembles the true architectural talents of ancient Indian era. Kanyakumari is another pilgrimage center not only for Hindus but holds some of the traditional temples for Jainism. The city is also know as Alexandria of the east. Among the other famous temples of the state include Madurai Murugan Temple, Rameshwaram, Kumbeswara, Swamimalai and many more.
Some distinct sanctuaries of the country like Madumalai and Annamalai Wildlife sanctuaries are located in this important Southern State of India. Both these sanctuaries are abode of many wild animals like elephants, tigers, bison, monkeys and deer. The tourists can also view some of the amazing species of aerial birds like black headed oriole, racket tailed drongos, green pigeon, rufus wood pecker, black eagle Tamil Nadu also prides itself for housing some important bird sanctuaries like Point Calimere, Vedanthangal, Kunthakulam. These sanctuaries attract thousands of birds from neighboring countries like Pakistan, Myanmar, and distant countries like USA and Australia.
Besides this, Tamil Nadu also possesses some of the longest and beautiful beaches of India. Marina Beach, Mahabalipuran, Kanyakumari, Rameshwaram beach are some of the popular beaches of the state. Every beach of the state would offer the magnificent sunrises and panoramic sunsets. A tour to Tamil Nadu would help the tourist to explore the traditional and historical India.
