Jammu and Kashmir is the northern most state in India, and it consists of three divisions, ---- Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakh. It also has two capitals Jammu the winter capital and Srinagar the summer capital. Jammu and Kashmir is described as “Heaven on Earth” for its natural beauty that stretches from valleys to lakes. Tourists from all over the world come to visit Jammu and Kashmir for its scenic beauty. Jammu is the most famous for its Temples where as Srinagar is famous for its lakes and houseboats. Tourists can enjoy the scenic beauty of the state when they travel to Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir is well known for its natural scenic beauty and its rich cuisines. The Houseboats on the Dal Lake are one of the top tourist attractions of Kashmir. There are many pilgrimage places in Jammu and Kashmir. The most important of them all, are the Amarnath Caves and the Vaishnodevi Shrine. Mata Vaishnodeviji is situated in the Trikuta hills at a distance of 60 kms from Jammu. Tourists from all over the world seek blessings from the Goddess when they travel to Jammu and Kashmir. Peer Khoh is a cave shrine which is famous for its naturally formed Shiva Lingam.

Jammu is a home for several ethnic communities which have diverse life style and customs. Some of the important ethnic group of Jammu are the Gaddis, the Dogras, the Bakkarwals and the Gujjars.

Kashmir which is often referred to as “paradise on earth” and is a land of spectacular natural beauty. Some of the prominent attractions in Kashmir are the beautiful Mughal Gardens, the famous Hazrathbal mosque, the shrine of Muslim saint Makhdoorn Sahib, the temple of goddess Sharika, the historic Sikh Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi and Nishat & Shalimar gardens. There are also several adventure sports activities that are organized during the winter. Among them are Skiing, Trekking, and Sledge Riding. Thus, one could enjoy all this and more when one decides to travel to Jammu and Kashmir
