Calicut - Mahe - Wayanad – Cheruthuruthy

 
Day 01: Arrival in Calicut
Arrive in Calicut – one of the largest cities in Kerala. You will be warmly welcomed on arriving in Calicut. It is the most important city of Malabar region of Kerala, and was a leading trading centre for spices on the West Coast of India during the medieval period. Enjoy your stay for the night at the Kappad Beach Resort. Take pleasure in the comfort and luxury that the resort has to offer.

Day 02: Visit to Calicut
The second day is reserved for visit to various places in Calicut – which is Kerala’s third largest city. The place is famous for heritage temples and monuments. You can pay a visit to Beypore - the famous beach city in Calicut. It is popular for its old ship building yard. Experience the heritage and culture of Calicut for the day and relax at the Kappad Beach resort at night.

Day 03: Calicut to Mahe
The next morning of the Heritage Kerala Tour you can visit the beautiful place, Mahe. It is a small town and is also called Mayyazhi. The town was a French colony and its name means “the eyebrow of the sea”. The colonial legacy is evident all over the place. Drive to Mahe in the morning and relax for a while at the Ayesha Manzil, which is a heritage bungalow. Experience the beauty of the vast Arabian Sea and other places nearby in the afternoon. Relax your body and mind at the Ayesha Manzil.

Day 04: Mahe
On the fourth day of the Kerala Heritage Tour, you will visit various places in Mahe. You can visit the school of dance, music and performing arts in Mahe. The students here perform popular forms of dances known as “Kalaripati” and “Thayum” which are the ancient arts of the land, for their guests. After this wonderful experience, go back to Ayesha Manzil to rest.

Day 05: Mahe to Wayanad
On fifth day you will travel to the Wayanad district. This district is also called the “land of the paddy fields” and its extravagant natural beauty. Wayanad is located in the North Eastern part of Kerala and is a place with exceptional scenic beauty. The place is full of green grounds and trees. After your arrival in Wayanad you will stay at the Vythiri Resort the popular resort of the hill station. You can experience mother Earth’s marvel at this place and can also enjoy an elephant ride. After a day, full of excitement and adventure, relax your body at Vythiri Resort for the night.

Day 06: In Wayanad
In the morning you can visit a tribal village nearby Wayanad. The Heritage Kerala Tour comprises of the visit to the famous tribal museum and trekking to an archaic cave. The cave is an example of the ancient civilization of human in India. Later in the evening, you can rest and enjoy your meal at the Vythiri Resort.

Day 07: Cheruthuruthy
Start the seventh day of Heritage Kerala Tour by driving to Cheruthuruthy. It is a small village that is located on the banks of River Nila. The place was established by Maha Kavi Vallathol and is a popular destination with people wanting to learn some traditional art forms. You can visit “Natya Kala”, the school of dance and music. See students performing various dance forms like Mohiniyattam, Kathakali and several other folk dances and music that is the cultural identity of the state. You can see the skillful weavers and potters mould and weave marvelous artifacts and designs. After sightseeing you can enjoy an overnight stay at the River Retreat Hotel.

Day 08: Departure
Pack your bags on the morning of the 8th day of Heritage Kerala Tour. You will be assisted to the airport, railway station or other transportation media. From here you can move towards the next destination on your travel list.
