Day 01: Delhi
On arrival in Delhi – the capital city of India and the center of power in Mogul India the representative of the Essence of Punjab Tour will escort the tourists to the hotel for an overnight stay. During the day you can visit some of the famous monuments of Delhi such as the India Gate a war memorial India Gate is the monument that was created by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens. Jama Masjid one of the largest mosques in India and the most sacred for the devout Muslim, President’s house or Rashtrapati Bhawan famous for its Mogul Gardens and its many rooms. Red Fort built in red sandstone by Emperor Shah Jahan is the central attraction of Delhi .For shopping, One can also visit the Chandni Chowk that dates back to the historical era of Delhi..
Day 02: Patiala (250 kms)
Punjab is famous for its cultural history and also because it houses five rivers. In the morning Essence of Punjab Tour will leave for Patiala which is a 51/2 hours drive from Delhi. Patiala was the princely state and still bears the marks of the royalty. Here we will visit the famous monuments such as Sheesh Mahal which is located behind the Moti Bagh Palace and which encompasses a museum and an art gallery. The Sheesh Mahal features colored glasses that is a treat for the eyes. Qila Androon which is a series of palaces such as the Rang Mahal and Chand Mahal, Bardari Gardens, Motibagh Palace which now encompasses the National Institute for Sports and Lakshman Jhoola which is a replica of the one at Rishikesh and is located across the small lake in front of the Sheesh Mahal. We will retire for the night at the hotel in Patiala. Patiala is renowned for its Gurudwaras.
Day 03: Chandigarh (63 kms)
In the morning Essence of Punjab Tour will drive down to Chandigarh which is a 1 and a 1/2 hours drive from Patiala and is a Union Territory of India. On the way we will visit the Chattbir Zoo. In the afternoon we will take you for a sightseeing tour of Chandigarh and visit the museum, the Pinjore garden and the rock garden. You can savor the typical Punjabi menus such as the Sarson ka saag and Makke ki roti which is a popular dish in Punjab. We return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Anandpur Sahib (73 kms)
In the morning we will drive down to Anandpur Sahib the most sacred place for Sikhs after the Golden Temple, it is a 2 hours drive from Chandigarh. The Sikh religion was founded in this city. Essence of Punjab Tour will take you to Sisganj and Kesgarh Sahib Gurudwaras. In the afternoon the tourists will visit the Bhakhra Nangal Project which is one of the popular dams in India. The dam is also the biggest dam in India. We return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Amritsar (140 kms)
We will drive down to Amritsar which is the most sacred place for the Sikhs due to the Golden Temple or the Harimandir Sahib. It is a 31/2 hours drive and on the way visit Taran Taran which is 22 kms away. Then we will proceed to Gobindwal which is 23 kms away. In the afternoon we will visit the world famous Golden Temple a religious place of the Sikhs where Sikhs from all over the world come to pay their respects and the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar which is a memorial of the martyrs of the 1919 massacre by the British General Dyer. We rest at the hotel in Amritsar for an overnight stay.
Day 06: Amritsar
In the morning we make a tour of Amritsar city and visit Harike wetland, summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and you can visit the Bara Bazaar for shopping. In the evening we make a tour of the Wagh border which is 20 kms away and is the border between India and Pakistan. We stay overnight at the hotel where Essence of Punjab Tours has arranged for a special Punjabi theme night dinner with a village set up and Punjabi folk dance and music to entertain you.
Day 07: Delhi
In the morning you can spend the day as you like either relaxing or shopping. In the afternoon we will leave by train for Delhi where the Essence of Punjab Tour has arranged for an overnight stay. The representatives will then guide the members of the tour to the airport to take their flight back home.
