South India Cultural Trip
 


South India Cultural Trip will help any traveler from the corners of the world or from India to know the Southern part of India in a better way. As it will be a cultural trip, you will come to know about the culture and heritage of this region in the best way possible. Some of the places you will be able to visit in this South India cultural trip include Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore, Hampi, Bijapur and Goa. The trip will be of 16 nights and 17 day.

The travel itinerary of the South India Cultural Trip is given below :

Day 01: Mumbai
You will arrive at Mumbai and then take a transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the day by visiting the shopping malls and explore the leisure activities at Mumbai.

Day 02: Mumbai
Visit some of the major attractions of Mumbai like Hanging Gardens, Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, Kamla Nehru Park, Mani Bhawan Malabar Hills, Marine Lines, Chowpatty Beach and Dhobi Ghat. Apart from this, you can also visit the Afgan Church, Flora Fountain and Crawford Market.

Day 03: Mumbai-Hyderabad
The next day take a transfer to the airport and catch the flight to Hyderabad. After lunch, visit the Charminar which is also known as "The Arch of Triumph of the East", the Mecca Mosque as well as the Salar Jung Museum. In this museum you will find a collection of ancient weapons, costumes, manuscripts and curios. Then stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Hyderabad
The next day explore the Golconda Fort. Golconda was famous in the earlier times for its diamond mines and from here the Kohinoor diamond was mined. The Golconda Fort was important for its strategic location in the 13th century. The acoustical system and massive battlements are the major attractions of the fort. Also visit the Usmansagar Lake which is one of the beautiful man-made lakes in the world.

Day 05: Hyderabad-Chennai
The next day board a flight for Chennai from Hyderabad. Take a transfer to the hotel. On the same day visit the Museum and take a look at the Art and Bronze Gallery. You can also visit some of the other places like the High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, The Theosophical Society, Flower and Fruit Markets, Santhome Cathedral and Snake Park.

Day 06: Visiting Tirupati
Plan a full day excursion of Tirupati which is situated very close to Chennai. It ranks among the richest temple of the world. This place is famous for the shrine of "Seven hills" of Tirumala which has attracted millions of pilgrims from all over India. The temple is an excellent example of the Dravidian art. The "Hall of Pillars" is in front of the temple. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 07: Mysore
The next morning board the train for Mysore. After reaching Mysore, take a transfer to the hotel and enjoy the lunch. Enjoy a half-day sight seeing tour of Mysore. In this tour, visit the palaces known for their Hindu and saracenic architecture. You will find the magnificent Domes, Turrets, Archways, Colonnades and Sculptures. Also visit the Chamundeshwari Temple at the Chamundi Hills. While returning visit the Nandi Bull.

Day 08: Mysore
The next day go for a full-day excursion of Belur, Halebid and Sravanbelagola. At Sravanbelagola, see the huge statue of Lord Gomteshwara. This statue is bathed with sandalwood,saffron and milk once in every 12 years. Do not forget to explore the beautiful Chennakesava temple of Belur which was established 900 years ago. It is an example of the Hoysala art. Also visit the Hoysaleswara and Kedareswara temples at Halebid.

Day 09: Bangalore
On the next day, drive towards Bangalore. Visit Srirangapatnam which is 16 kms from Mysore. You will find a fort here which was considered to be the stronghold of Tippu Sultan. You will also find the Tippu 's airy summer palace and the tomb of Tipu Sultan at the Darya Daulat Bagh. You can also visit the Sri Ranganatha Temple.

Day 10: Bangalore
Some of the major attractions of the "Garden City" Bangalore include Lal Bagh known for its old Trees, Lotus, Pools, Terraces, Fountains and an assortment of different types of herbs. Visit the Government Buildings and Maharaja's Palace. You may also indulge in shopping and other personal activities.

Day 11: Hampi
Visit Hampi, the capital city of Vijayanagar Empire at one point of time. This place is known for its Palaces, Temples and sculptures. After checking in the hotel at Hospet, visit the various monuments spread all over the city.

Day 12: Hampi
On the next visit the remaining wealthy monuments of Hampi. In the evening, return back to hotel and take rest.

Day 13: Bijapur : Gol Gumbaz
Bijapur is also renowned for the large number of monuments it has. Gol Gumbaz is one such monument which is famous all over the world and its dome is the second largest in the world. If you whisper, it will be magnified 12 times. On the other side, you will find extraordinary acoustical phenomenon. You should also visit the Gagan Mahal, Bara Kaman and Ibrahim Rauza.

Day 14: Goa
The next morning check out and proceed to Goa. After arrival, check in the hotel and spend the day relaxing and enjoying the leisure activities.

Day 15: Goa
The next morning start with a half-day sight seeing. Visit places like Altinho Hill to take a look at the beautiful Panjim and river Mandovi and Dona-Paula and Mormugao. Also explore old Goa where you can see the Basillica of Bom Jesus where you will find the tomb and the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, St. Cajetan which looks like St. Peter (Rome), St. Cathedral – the biggest Church in the East, Church of Our Lady Rosary as well as St. Monica. Enjoy the rest of the day according to your discretion.

Day 16: Goa
Visit the beaches and enjoy sunbathing. You can also enjoy the Goan food. The beaches also have small shops famous for local handicraft items. You can buy some of these as souvenirs for your near and dear ones.

Day 17: Mumbai
On the next day, take a flight from Goa and reach Mumbai. You can take the return flight.
