Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu & Kashmir, is the last railway stop which heads to the northern region of India. Jammu is well connected to places like Tawi and Udhampur by train to its south and east. As most of the area is a mountainous and hilly terrain, the rail network is quite scarce. However, people traveling to this state can travel by other modes of transport like airways and roadways.
A National Priority Project is underway, where the railway project is under construction since 1994. This railway project is nearing its completion and it will exactly benefit several locals as well as tourists traveling to this state, as this rail network will connect Jammu with Srinagar.
