Food & Drink

The most preferred cuisine in Delhi is the Indian Muglai cuisine including Tandoori food and biryanis. This is due to the influences of the Mughals who once ruled the city. The city is full of restaurants and dinning outlets which also serve a variety of multi-cuisine varieties of food and all kinds of international and domestic alcoholic beverages. South Delhi is a fashionable part of Delhi and the night clubs, malls, clubs and coffee shops of this area are always full. Nirula’s has a restaurant chain in central parts of Delhi and serve a wide variety of ice creams. The Chandni Chowk area in North Delhi has some old restaurants which serve exotic Indian cuisines.

The Punjabi dishes include tandoori meat and fish. They are marinated in spicy yoghurt sauces and are cooked in hot clay ovens, imparting the special flavor of the tandoor to its dishes. This food is milder and made with inventive sauces made from ginger, garlic, coriander, cumin, turmeric and cilantro fried and ground before adding to the curries. Vegetarian fares are also aplenty in the form of sarson ka saag, vegetable korma, channa masala and paneer delicacies.

The best part about Delhi is that all kinds of tourist would find something to suit their tastes as the city has several multi-cuisine restaurants which serve numerous food delicacies . There are many Chinese restaurants serving Cantonese and Szechwan dishes as well. Delhi has ample South Indian and Continental restaurants along with restaurants serving Thai and Lebanese food as well.
